We started by taking out the original driveway and laying a new 804 foundation.

We laid a double border of granite cobbles around the whole perimeter. Our team installed two separate patio areas using 600x600 Natural Granite Slabs and also fashioned a new doorstep using the same slabs to match.

As a final step we poured down a layer of SMA tarmac and power-rolled it to a perfectly smooth finish.

Here are a few pictures of a new gravel driveway replacing an old concrete driveway in Ballinlough, Cork. All materials were supplied and labour carried out by Excel Driveways.

We dug out and removed the old concrete from the front yard. We made the necessary adjustments to level off the area.

Our lads refurbished the front path and step into one cohesive style by laying down Sandstone slabs, fixed down with concrete.

To finish this project off, we poured down natural grey gravel chippings and raked them down to an even layer.

Golden Gravel Driveway with Sandstone Patio in Milstreet, Co. Cork

We cleared the existing driveway of the old gravel and removed some of the greenery to better utilize the space.

We installed new ACO drains in several crucial spots, where water pooling might do harm to the surface over time.

The patio portion of the project was laid with Sandstone slabs in various sizes. We refashioned a new doorstep to match the patio. For the driveway itself, we started by putting down a type 1 hardcore base together with a heavy duty geo tech sheeting to prevent weed growth. The driving area was the filled with Golden Gravel, to compliment the Indian Sandstone.

We first started by clearing out the old gravel and mucky lawn to significantly enlarge the usable area.

The driveway already had concrete kerbing along the edges, we only added new ones in the extended areas, and replaced some of the old ones, that were damaged.

Our team laid down an 804 sub-base and poured hot tar all over the area. The surface was finished with Natural Limestone gravel and compacted with a machine roller.

Asphalt Driveway with Sandstone borders in Rossbrook

We dug out and removed the original surface. Then we installed an 804 sub-base for our solid foundation. We laid a strip of Natural Sandstone blocks along the front of the house and we used the same blocks in smaller sizes to create a defined borders around the driveway.

The newly created area was then filled with SMA, also known as Stone-Matrix Asphalt. This surface is designed to minimize deformation and suits any heavily trafficked roads and drives.

Patio Transformation in Glasheen, Cork

Here we have a patio transformation in Glasheen, Cork, completed by our team at Excel Driveways.

We started by taking out the old broken concrete slabs and turf. We leveled of the area and installed a protective membrane sheeting as well as a layer of paving grit to lay the flags on.

The owners opted for the Kilsaran Classic flags with charcoal border. These flags are as popular today as they have always been, for their easy maintenance and classy look.

We also installed a small step at the door, using the same flags.

Triple Block Paving Driveway Project in Douglas, Cork

We, at Excel Driveways, have recently tackled an extensive Block Paving project in Douglas, Cork. Not one, not two, but three joined driveways were transformed simultaneously.

As always we started by removing the previous surface, in this case old tarmac and lawn. We remodeled the layout, significantly increasing the space for parking in all these driveways.

All three driveways are installed on the same 804 durable sub-base and are set on top of a bed of paving sand grit.

Each owner picked a slightly different colour combination, and yet they compliment each other beautifully.

The left driveway was laid with Natural Granite Cobbles with a border of White. For the middle driveway, the owners opted for a Curragh Blend with a Natural Cobble border. And finally, we installed the right driveway in the same Curragh Blend as the previous one, however the border is in Charcoal.
